Jessie May
The Jessie May vision is that all children and young people with life-limiting and life threatening conditions are supported to have the very best quality of life possible with the chance to live, and to die, in their own homes with their families.
The Foundation has supported the important work of the Jessie May Hospice at Home service for a number of years, and this year awarded the charity £25,000 to continue its work with families in Bristol.
The grant has gone towards:
- Fun 3-hour respite visits, providing medical care as well as sensory activities, craft, music and other activities that helps the child's development and wellbeing. These visits also allow parents time out from caring duties to be with other children, to rest or attend appointments.
- Family events that help to create precious memories of the times the families spent together having fun.
- On going support including advice on care, signposting to other resources, and assistance during hospital stays.
- Planning end of life and working with other healthcare professionals to provide more intensive care in the last few weeks of a child's life.
- Bereavement support including access to support groups.
