Freewheelers
Freewheelers Emergency Voluntary Blood Bike Service is a registered charity that provides a free out-of-hours motorcycle courier service to hospitals in Bristol, Bath and the South West at zero cost to the NHS.

The Foundation provided funding towards a motorcycle in 2019 and in 2024, has made a further grant of £35,000 towards a second motorcycle. Our original motorcycle, to date, has performed approximately 1000 days in operational duty and made some 8500 urgent deliveries including urgent supplies to the Air Ambulance and to other major disasters . Deliveries have included: blood products, medications, medical records, X-rays and medical samples.
Freewheelers slogan, “Riding For Life” describes their operation perfectly. They ride to play their part in saving peoples lives, ride to help the NHS divert money that would otherwise be spent on taxis or expensive couriers, but more than anything else, they tell us that they ride because they love it and wish to put something back into the community.
We hope that the John James Bristol Foundation second bike will be as successful as the first.
