  Willow supports young adults aged 16-40 across the UK who have life-threatening or life-limiting conditions, by providing uplifting and unforgettable special days. Willow was founded in 1999 by broadcaster and former Arsenal goalkeeper Bob Wilson and his wife Megs following the loss of their daughter, and have fulfilled more than 15,000 Special Days since. Special Days range from a once-in-a-lifetime experience, quality time together for young families or a much needed break for couples. The Foundation awarded Willow £6,000 to provide Special Days for seriously ill young adults who live within the City of Bristol.

South Bristol Youth

South Bristol Youth work hard to ensure that young people in Bristol who are easily overlooked, have the skills, knowledge and confidence to reach their potential in life and work. South Bristol Youth are now working with 2500 young people aged 11-18 across 27 schools and 4 colleges. The Unlocking Potential Programme seeks to increase the speaking and listening skills of a select group of children, whilst also improving their self-confidence. There are currently 120 13-14yr old children on the course. The foundation awarded £10,000 towards running the Unlocking Potential Programme.

Age UK Bristol is an independent local charity delivering a wide range of services to older people over the age of 55. Age UK Bristol’s aim is to support Bristol residents to live independently in the community for as long as they wish to do so. Their flagship service is their Information and Advice Service, but also deliver a housing support service, telephone befriending, day care provision, preventative foot care, and basic computer learning skills courses. The Foundation awarded Age UK Bristol £12,500 towards the costs of volunteer recruitment, training and support for the Information and Advice Service.

Afternoon Tea

On 26th July 2018, elderly Bristol citizens joined the Foundation at The Bristol Hotel for an afternoon tea. The afternoon consisted of good food and members from BLOC Productions sang songs from their upcoming show "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang", followed by a sing-a-long. The day ended with a raffle for each table. Tickets for BLOC's "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang", were included in the raffle. It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.

Gromit Unleashed 2

The Criminal mastermind penguin is on the loose again and the dynamic duo is out to track him down! Gromit is raring to go, but Wallace can’t resist having a nice sit down to soak up the scenery, and enjoy a lovely cup of tea at every opportunity. The Gromit Unleashed 2 trail will feature 67 sculptures and will take visitors across the City and surrounding areas, whilst raising money for Bristol Children’s Hospital charity, The Grand Appeal. The John James Bristol Foundation is pleased to announce they have sponsored The Emperor sculpture in the Gromit Unleashed 2 trail. The Emperor is designed by artist, Natalie Guy and will be located at the Podium Broadmead. The trail started on Monday 2nd July and will run until Sunday 2nd September.
